Shows in the Bay!

Hey friends,

Tomorrow I’m heading back north for a bunch of shows. First, on Wednesday 4/11, I’m headlining Masses Sports Bar in Walnut Creek. It’s a free show, and it’s a bar, and I’m headlining, so if any/all of those things appeal to you then come check it out.

Then Thursday through Sunday I’ll be at Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco opening for the legendary Kevin Nealon! The Friday late show and Sunday show have discount tickets on Goldstar. See Cobb’s's website for more details.

And if you haven’t already, please help me pick a new URL.

Thanks for reading, I hope to see you at a show!

Love,

Joe

Help Me Pick a New URL!

Don’t worry, vietjew.com will still always point to my website, but I want something a little more professional so that I can give out my website without having to explain my family history. Sadly, joenguyen.com, josephnguyen.com, thejoenguyen.com, joewin.com, and tharealest.com are all taken, but I’ve found a few alternatives that are still available. I would be concerned about cyber squatters but I know that no one is reading this.

Anyways, please fill out the poll and let me know which ones you like (you can pick up to 3). Like I said, I’ll keep vietjew.com, and I’ll probably grab one or two from the list below.  Thanks in advance for your help!

A Few Shows Here and There

And by “here and there” I mean the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas, respectively.

Not much has changed since my last post aside from the added shows. I’ll be in the Bay Area March 7-11 and then again April 11-15. Come see a show!

The Vagrant Life

In case I forgot to tell any of you, I’m in LA now, currently a vagrant sleeping in friends’ living rooms, planning to hit the scene and get something going in this here comedy world. That should be easy, right?

I have my first two shows of the year lined up on 1/13 in Burbank and 1/14 in Hermosa Beach with friend from the Bay Area Tim Lee. Should be fun times! See the Shows page for more info.

Back to the Bay: Sunnyvale Dec 29-31!

While comedy may not be at the top of most people’s lists for things to do on a given night out, there seems to be a healthy tradition of people going to comedy shows on New Year’s Eve. I’ve got a few shows coming up at Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club in Sunnyvale with Lisa Landry this weekend including two on Saturday, meaning I’ll ring in the new year in the suburbs. They should be good shows, and for you cheapasses there are half-price tickets on Goldstar for the Friday show.

Last Show in SF!

I know my updates on the site have been scarce but here’s the deal: I’m moving to LA next week and I have one last show before I leave! The show’s Thursday, December 8, at Murphy’s Pub. Yup, it’s the venue where Nightlife on Mars has been running shows for over a year. This is a great lineup with Alex Koll, Kevin Camia, Natasha Muse, Cory Loycasek and myself.

If you can make it out that would be super sweet. If not, it’s all good, I’ll be back up regularly to work the clubs. I’ll even be back this month, but in the South Bay at Rooster T. Feathers in Sunnyvale.

Murphy’s is located at 217 Kearny St., between Sutter and Bush. The show is FREE and starts at 8:30 in the lower level.

Redirected from vietjew.com

Hey friends,

So I was tired of updating my website through Godaddy, and figured that even if I’m using HTML it’s still easier to use WordPress or tumblr to make updates. It’s not like I had a nice design, so, right now things are just redirected to this site and eventually I will map the domain vietjew.com to either this site or a tumblr (or other blogging site). Or, I’ll have someone redesign vietjew.com.

Either way, it was time for a new look. Probably 4 years ago. Better late than never?

Last Week, the Time I Almost Died

So last week I went home to Atlanta and on my flight back, we had to turn back to ATL and make an emergency landing because the left engine caught on fire. Read about it on USA Today.

It was a hell of a way to start my 28th birthday. I’ll be telling the whole story at the show at Murphy’s on 7/7, so be there!

This page is still a sack of shit, but I’ll use it for the time being. Here’s what matters:

This is Nightlife on Mars, a comedy troupe consisting of Ryan Cronin, Adam McLaughlin and me. We have a biweekly show, and our next show on 7/7 will be pretty sweet. We have guests Joe Klocek, Cara Tramontano, and Dan Edwards.

I also am working on a new bit/story, since I kind of almost died on my 28th birthday. Yeah, I’ll explain a little more in a separate post, but I also want to save most of it for the stage. Come to our show on Thursday!
